Donkey Kong Country 3 is the final game in the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy, this time starring Dixie Kong on her journey to save both Donkey Kong and Dixie Kong from KAOS, the new leader of the Kremling Krew, and ultimately Baron K. Roolenstein, KAOS’s creator. Dixie and her cousin Kiddy, who joins her on the quest, must travel across the northern Kremisphere by boats lent to them by Funky Kong.
DKC3 didn’t fare as well as the first two DKC games, but is still generally well-liked and enjoyed. It didn’t sell as well as DKC1-2, but it still sold quite well despite being a game release towards the end of the Super Nintendo’s life cycle.
Notes From the Editor
Prior to replaying the original DKC trilogy, Dixie’s Double Trouble was actually my favorite DKC game. It was likely due to the fact that it starred Dixie, but either way, I eventually got over it. Still, it is a very good game, and K. Rool has yet another hilarious persona in this game, Baron K. Roolenstein.
